Do we celebrate our life in recovery? Are we enjoying ever moment, finding beauty every day? After all, we’ve been given a new opportunity on life—we’re no longer tied down by addiction. While the macro knowledge of our freedom is immense, sometimes it’s easy to forget the daily beauty and blessings. Yet that is exactly how we can celebrate beauty every day.
No one else knows how hard it is every day to live every day in recovery—except those of in recovery. But what if we treated every day as truly a gift?
In June 2011, Louie Schwartzberg presented his inspiring project, Happiness Revealed, at a TED conference, which explores the relationship of gratefulness to our lives.

Gratitude Quotes to Celebrate Recovery
Here are some inspiring quotes on gratefulness and beauty I pulled from the video:
- “Beauty and seduction are nature’s tools for survival because we protect what we fall in love with. Nature’s beauty is a gift that cultivates appreciation and gratitude.”
- “You think this is just another day in your life. It’s not just another day; it’s the one day that is given to you. Today. It’s given to you; it’s a gift. It’s the only gift that you have right now. And the only appropriate response is gratefulness.”
- “If you do nothing else but to cultivate that response to the great gift that this unique day is; if you learn to respond as if it were the first day in your life and the very last day, then you will have spent this day very well.”
- “Begin by opening your eyes and be surprised that you have eyes to open.”
- “Just by your eyes, by your smile, by your touch. Just by your presence. Let the gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you. Then it will really be a good day.”
This video really made me think. How am I celebrating my recovery today? Am I opening my eyes to the beauty of nature and letting that gratefulness fill every moment of my life?
